Quilts of Valor

The Village Quilt Guild’s Betsy Ross bee, a QOV member organization, will have a workroom set up during the show where quilters can stop in and sew for a while ... or longer if they so choose. Machines and all supplies will be provided. This will be the perfect opportunity for you to sit, rest your legs, and join fellow quilters in the national effort to present each and every veteran a quilt of thanks and gratitude for their service.

Opportunity Quilt

Opportunity Quilt

This beautiful appliquéd top was anonymously donated to the Village Quilt Guild, quilted by Reta Lawrence, and bound by Bonnie Kastler. Tickets are sold for $1 each or six tickets for $5.

Drawing will be held at the guild’s December meeting. Winner need not be present to win.

All proceeds from ticket sales are used to fund the guild’s charitable projects such as quilts for veterans through the Quilts of Valor program, napping quilts and story books for the local Head Start pre-school children, quilted Christmas stockings filled with goodies for CASA children, fidget quilts for Alzheimer’s patients, and quilts distributed by first responders for victims in crisis. Cooper Anthony Advocacy, First Step, American Heart Association, Dick Johnson Children’s Camp (40 children having incarcerated parents), and the new Garland County Humane Society shelter are other organizations that have benefitted from the donations of quilts, quilted items, or monetary gifts.
