AR Village Quilt Show

Tickets are $10 at the door or $15 for a two-day pass.

  1. All quilts must consist of three layers: top, batting, backing and must be quilted through all three layers. Exception to this rule are quilts entered in the Miscellaneous category. No tied quilts are allowed in any category.
  2. A maximum of 200 quilts will be accepted in the order in which they are received. Entry form and non-refundable fee must be must be received by midnight on July 15, 2019. If more than 200 entries are received, you will be notified and the entry fee will be returned.
  3. The show committee reserves the right to combine and/or divide categories.
  4. If the quilt is not an original design, credit must be given to the designer.
  5. All quilts must be clean and free of pet hair, smoke, or other strong odors.
  6. False backs will not be allowed. Exceptions to this rule are quilts entered in the Miscellaneous category. A false back is defined as backing that has been attached to the piece after quilting has been completed so that quilting does not show on the back of the quilt.
  7. A label with quilter’s name, address, and phone number must be attached to the bottom right side on the back of the quilt. The label should be covered with a piece of fabric attached with basting stitches so that identification is hidden during the judging process. No pins allowed.
  8. All quilts must have a 4-inch hanging sleeve attached. If the quilt is longer than 90 inches, the hanging sleeve should be placed so the quilt will hang 90 inches from the floor. Excess of the quilt will be draped over the top pole. Quilts without a hanging sleeve will be judged, but will not be hung in the show.

  9. Quilter may enter only one quilt per category, but may enter up to three quilts in the show.
  10. Entrant must have actively participated in the construction and/or quilting of the quilt. No third-party quilts will be allowed.
  11. All entrants who worked on the quilt should be listed on the entry form. The exception to this rule is Group Quilts where many people many may have contributed.
  12. Please read the category descriptions carefully. Quilts will remain in the category in which they are entered. A quilt that is incorrectly entered will be judged, but will be disqualified from ribbon consideration.
  13. Quilt insurance is the responsibility of the entrant.
  14. Quilt must have been completed after July 1, 2017.
  15. Quilt entries will be accepted from April 1, 2019 until July 15, 2019.
    Entry fees will be charged at the following rates:
    • Member = $10 per quilt. For three quilts the fee is reduced to $25 instead of $30.
    • Non-member = $20 per quilt.
    • Junior category = no entry fee.

    A member is defined as a paid member of the Village Quilt Guild in good standing as of April 1, 2019.
    A junior is defined as a youth who has not yet reached their 18th birthday as of July 1, 2019.
  16. The Best of Show award will be selected from the first place winners in each category except that Block of the Month/Kit and Junior categories are excluded from Best of Show consideration.
  17. Ribbons will be awarded to the entrant with an additional ribbon for the quilter if different from the entrant. Group quilts will be awarded only one piecer ribbon and one quilter ribbon if different from the entrant. Any prize money will be awarded to the entrant.
  18. Decisions of the judge(s) are final.
  19. Each entry must be put in a fabric case with the entrant’s name, address, and phone number clearly marked on the case. (Pillow cases work well for this purpose.) No paper or plastics bags will be allowed.
  20. Quilts will be accepted on Monday, September 16th from 1:30-3:30 p.m. in Room #2 at the Coronado Center, 150 Ponderosa Lane, Hot Springs Village, AR 71909. If you choose to ship your quilt, detailed mailing instructions will be sent to you after your entry form has been received. Do not ship your quilt until you have received this information.
  21. Quilt pick up will take place immediately after take-down is completed at the close of the show on Saturday, September 21, 2019. Shipped quilts will be sent no later than Wednesday, September 25, 2019.
